Take Action!

Now that you are aware, it is time to take action! Treading water is an awesome way to raise awareness and donations for programs like SWIM Cambodia that teach school-age children basic swimming, water safety and safe rescue skills.

How long can you tread?

Project: SWIM Cambodia

Drowning is the leading cause of child (ages 1-17) mortality (death) in Cambodia. Over 2,000 Cambodian children die from drowning each year.

Children who drown in Cambodia rarely present at hospitals (only 6.6%) and therefore are not often counted in that country’s official death records.

SWIM (Safety When It Matters) Cambodia is the first significant water safety program in Cambodia, of it's kind. SWIM will teach children water safety education, survival swimming skills, safe rescue techniques, and CPR.

Studies of programs in Australia, Bangladesh, China, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam show that teaching children basic swimming, water safety and safe rescue skills reduces drowning. WHO Global Report on Drowning (2014)
